Computer Skills Training

If you don’t have basic computer and internet skills, you are limiting your job and career opportunities. We can help.

Philadelphia OIC is working hard to offer classes and a computer access center to all members of the community. In partnership with the City of Philadelphia, we offer technology training and computer access in several ways:

  • KEYSPOT. In March 2012, Philadelphia OIC was designated an official KEYSPOT location by the City of Philadelphia.  Our KEYSPOT, which is a free open access computer lab, is the city’s way of bridging the digital divide by providing free access to computers and the internet at various locations throughout the city. Here, with the assistance of an on-site personal coach, people have access to the computers and training they need to improve their job skills, search for jobs, complete homework assignments, communicate with friends and family around the world, access educational programs and keep up with the latest news and issues that impact their lives.
  • GED Instruction. Philadelphia OIC offers GED instruction and training. (Classes starting soon. Please call ahead for information: 215-236-7700, hit “0” for the operator).
  • MONK: Because there are some communities where broadband connections and computer access gaps still exist, Philadelphia OIC’s MONK (Mobile OIC Neighborhood KEYSPOT)  brings the internet–and the tools and training to use it–to them. Our mobile computer lab is deployed to partnership sites on a regular schedule to conduct basic-to-intermediate trainings, online GED preparation classes, and informational technology sessions. Ask your local community organization or rec center if you’d like to arrange a visit.
