After School Programs
Philadelphia OIC’s Out-of-School-Time program provides academic enrichment services for students at the Henry A. Brown Elementary School in North Philadelphia. We are currently accepting students from Kindergarten through the 8th grade who currently attend Henry A. Brown Elementary School.
Children who enroll in this program receive daily homework help, learn valuable classroom skills and participate in guided physical activity. Many activities are supported by technology and are geared toward empowering participants at any stage of life. We emphasize positive youth development by providing services and opportunities that support all young people in developing a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging, and empowerment. We seek to ensure positive youth development by building confidence through the following initiatives: the arts, music, sports, hobbies, cultural awareness, science and math enrichment. The program provides academic support, and promotes caring relationships between young people and adults through family workshops and community engagement.
Funded by the City of Philadelphia Department of Human Services, our curriculum emphasizes learning in health, recreation, art, cultural exposure trips, violence awareness and conflict resolution. Students are visited twice weekly by the MONK Mobile Computer Lab to receive computer and Internet training.
Parents are encouraged to participate in this program through activities like chaperoned field trips and Family Nights. Henry A. Brown Elementary School parents interested in having their children participate should speak to their teachers.
